January 2005 update

Sunday, January 2nd, 2005

We’re mixing the Acoustic Mafia CD this month. Using the newly acquired Otari 1/4″ for mixdown and very happy with the results. Matt Pence will be mastering the disc and its release will be on Sunday February 6 in Fort Worth at the Aardvark.

New Gear: We’ve upgraded our ProTools system with an Apogee Rosetta 800 A/D D/A converters. Also added is the Universal Audio plugins including Fairchild, Pultec, LA2A and 1176. Maybe we’ll start using it now for more than its visually-exciting screen saver.

December 2004 update

Look for the release of John Lamonica’s solo EP “How Shall They Hear” this month. It’s under the Tiebreaker moniker and is being released by Spune Productions. We started this recording two years ago before John joined Polyphonic Spree and we finished a few more songs once he came off the road. We’re both really happy to see these songs finally see the light of day. go check it out at spune.com.

We started recording for the Fort Worth Acoustic Mafia disc featuring songs by Brandin and Fletcher Lea (Flickerstick), Tim Locke, John Price, Collin Herring, Danny and Joe (The Action) and Casey Diiorio. Look for a release sometime in February.

Colin Boyd is utilizing the studio’s live room to record some tracks for his upcoming CD. Brian Hartig is on the kit along with Mike Daane on bass. Should be some good listening.

New Gear: Adam S2.5 Powered Studio Monitors, Otari MTR-10 1/4″ tape machine and a 1973 Gibson Hummingbird Acoustic.
